Metal Age Project

Dawn and I spent Tuesday afternoon and evening working at King George Gallery, Ilkeston with students, sand, plaster, and a box of tools. All the best artworks come from experimenting with new materials. The process is very simple - take a tray of sand, press it down, take impressions of tools, add plaster, remove excess sand and you are left with the plaster mould. Each step needs to be just right, or the result are not quite what was expected. Because of the drying time we got to see the results first - and were very pleased.

Ecobuild is open.

Come and see me and Garry Jones Ceramics. Day one was very busy. I'll be there for Wednesday and Thursday

Ecobuild at ExCel. March 5-7.

Spent most of today driving between home and London Docklands. In between times, with Garry Jones Ceramics, setting up at Ecobuild. During the set up I was most impressed by the number of exhibitors arriving from Europe - France, Germany, Holland and Poland. I'll never seen another exhibitor drive a huge artic truck into the venue to unload before. It really is a big event. I was told the hall is half a km long!

Archie the Ant at Grisedale

Archie has been a part of the Grisedale Campsite for a couple of years now. It was good to have a change to drop in and see him. Also good to see Arthur recovering well from his 2nd hip replacement. (Shame I wasn't allowed the metalwork from the failed one...)
